Quilts are made from an original creative idea adhering to a preset list of rules. Members are encouraged to create a small quilt that incorporates one or more of the indicated guidelines. They are then judged by our members and prizes are awarded.
Challenge 2026 – “The Quilted Word“
The 2026 Challenge Quilt theme is The Quilted Word. This year, members are challenged to create a small quilt that illustrates one or more words and the emotions it(they) evoke.
Rules – Challenge quilts will be original design –
- original design that incorporates one or more words
- no larger than 120” perimeter
- comprised of three layers (top, batting, and backing)
- bound and quilted through all three layers and have visible quilting by hand, by machine, or both
- made using fabrics of any color
- made using any of the following techniques: pieced, foundation pieced, English paper pieced, hand or machine appliqued, hand or machine embroidered.
The Challenge Quilts will be presented at the January 2027 meeting.
